“The mission of Transitions Family Violence Services is to build safe and healthy families on the Virginia Peninsula. The agency assists adult and child victims through the provision of shelter, counseling and advocacy services. We work to increase awareness of domestic violence and provide opportunities for community members to participate in our mission.”

It is sad to have to say that domestic violence is still so widespread.  But groups like Transitions Family Violence Services are working to change that, through victim support, advocacy, and raising awareness.  So, for the month of November, a percentage of my eBay auctions will be donated to this nonprofit group.

I briefly considered naming it “Spike” and raising it as a dog, but I really can’t keep this stray kitten we found. I know “cat people” are a passionate and caring bunch, so please share this link and help find it a home!!

adopt a kitten

Adopt me!!

It’s cute, it’s small, it’s affectionate.. and it’s free to a good home.  For more info, please see yesterday’s blog post.

If you’re in the Hampton Roads area and would like to adopt this kitten, you can send an email to

This adorable kitten is believed to have strayed from a feral litter. It (we have no idea if it is a he or a she) was found hiding in a thicket of trees and brush; it was very thin and very frightened.

stray kitten needs a home

Adopt me!!

After a little time and a bowl of milk, it has quickly warmed to people.  And, it seems to be healthy, aside from being a little undernourished.

But it still needs a permanent home. We can keep it through the weekend, but on Monday, it will have to go to an animal shelter if we cannot find another home for it.

It’s very small, and we’re guessing *about* a month old… and did I mention adorable?

It is temporarily being housed in Chesapeake, and is free to a good home.

PS:  As “dog people”, we don’t have a lot of experience caring for kittens.  If anyone has any pointers, that’d be great. Thanks!! 🙂
